Recovery Ability (PNS) Info
The parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) regulates the body’s “rest and digest” response and plays a crucial role in alleviating stress and promoting recovery. It achieves this by inhibiting the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, reducing the release of stress hormones, and returning bodily functions to their resting state. This includes slowing the heart rate, lowering blood pressure, reducing muscle tension, and restoring regular breathing, digestion, and glandular activity.
The Recovery Ability metric measures the activity of the PNS and indicates how well a person can relax or recover after a stressful event. A low score indicates a stressful state, while a high score suggests a relaxed state.
